YOUR BODY KNOWS BEST

Ann Louise Gittleman, M.S.
O.K., it's not a link. It's a book, just out in paperback, available at your local bookstore. But, it's well worth "linking" up with! World renowned author of 7 books and noted nutritionist, Ann Louise Gittleman, M.S., has written an excellent introduction to metabolic profiling and makes a clear, strong case for the ridiculousness of the idea that one diet or nutritional program is right for everyone!

Enter THE ZONE
by
Barry Sears, Ph.D.
Dr. Sears' enormously popular book has brought to the public eye the critical value of the protein/carbohydrate ratio in human health and nutrition. In reality, this "discovery" is not new as it actually formed an important aspect of our system of metabolic typing that we developed back in the mid '70's and can be seen in our writings from that time. Where we differ with Dr. Sears is in the understanding that while there indeed is such a thing as "the zone," entering the zone requires a different protein/carbohydrate ratio for different metabolic types. Although he apparently does not know about the field of metabolic typing, Dr. Sears, on page 30 of the hardbound copy of his book, does acknowledge that differences do exist. This is precisely why everyone does not do well on The Zone Diet. Some people who have tried it have told us that they actually lost energy and gained weight as a result!
EAT RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE
This site deals with Dr. D´Adamo´s research and his book on bloodtypes. The  book and the informations on the site are an expansion of information originated by his father, James D'Adamo, N.D., concerning the relationship of one's blood type to diet and health. Although we have found that blood type does play a role in defining metabolic individuality and determining individual nutritional requirements, our experience is that it is not the whole story. There are other "fundamental homeostatic control mechanisms" (e.g., autonomic nervous system, oxidative system, endocrine system, catabolic/anabolic balance, acid/alkaline balance, constitutional elements) that must be considered in order to define a metabolic type, understand how nutrients and foods behave in one's metabolism as opposed to someone else's, and determine the proper diet and individual nutritional requirements for each person.
